Not all of Hollywood’s legends were movie makers. Some were fans! Joe Ackerman, known as “Hollywood’s beloved autograph hound”, spent years taking photos and getting autographs from Hollywood stars. The stars came to know and love him. These photos are a part of Joe’s private collection of never before published black and white pictures of the stars. They are but a snippet of the many candid shots Joe took himself. Some of them include Joe and his friends getting their autographs. In addition, he was able to see many of the stars again to have them autograph the photos. This is a rare look into the Golden Age of Hollywood through Joe’s camera lens. The Hollywood Museum says “it’s considered one of the greatest autograph collections in the world”.
